Since April 1, 2015, the milk quota system has given way to the free market inside the European Community. This poses a new challenge to small-scale producers, who now have to face competition from livestock farms with huge productive capacities. To what degree can quality, the revival of the local supply chain and indication of origin may be a resource to enable small-scale producers to differentiate themselves and become competitive?
